2-Human rights
2-Human rights
By ‘human rights’ we mean all the rights that every human being should enjoy (in particular the right to education and freedom of expression). The concept of ‘human rights’ is clearly linked to the idea that human beings should enjoy their rights without distinction as to race, colour, sex, language, religion, political or other convictions, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.
As part of its commitment to the Global Compact, CITET has an obligation to ensure that human rights are respected both in the workplace and, more broadly, within its sphere of influence. It undertakes to clearly defend the ‘human rights’ policy and not to discriminate against or impede social, economic and cultural rights within its sphere of responsibility.
CITET stakeholders are invited to ensure that they are not complicit in human rights violations.
3. Compliance with labor standards
Use of forced or compulsory labor
CITET and its stakeholders undertake not to use forced or compulsory labor as defined in ILO conventions.
Use of illegal labor
CITET and its stakeholders undertake not to use illegal labor as defined by current legislation.
Child and adolescent labor
CITET and its stakeholders undertake to apply the provisions relating to the elimination of child labor and the protection of children and adolescents, as defined by current legislation. In particular, they undertake not to employ anyone under the minimum working age.

- Protecting health and safety
CITET and its stakeholders strive to maintain a safe environment, protecting the health and physical and mental integrity of personnel, subcontractors, stakeholders linked to the operation, neighboring populations, and users of their products. CITET takes a proactive approach to health and safety issues.
The risks associated with its activities must be identified and assessed. CITET and its stakeholders take all necessary measures to limit and, where possible, eliminate these risks. They work actively to improve the safety of everyone working on their sites. Since people's physical integrity is at stake, CITET requires its partners to have the same high standards of workplace safety when working on CITET sites.
4. Environmental protection
CITET is committed to implementing the necessary measures to achieve the highest standards of environmental protection, with a view to promoting the development and dissemination of environmentally friendly technologies both in its activities and in its management system, particularly with regard to nature conservation, the preservation of biodiversity and ecosystems, the depletion of natural resources, and the management of waste and toxic substances.
CITET's partners are committed to gradually integrating environmental, health, and safety criteria into the purchase of products and services in order to reduce their impact in their areas of intervention. They are committed to complying with at least the laws and standards that apply to them locally.
Social Responsibility Policy
CITET, through its main mission as an institution dedicated to promoting sustainable development, particularly among Tunisian companies, is doubly concerned with its commitment to social responsibility, first as a player in the implementation of CSR programs in Tunisian companies, and secondly as a member of the international Global Compact network, formalized by the signing of the Global Compact letter of commitment on September 24, 2012.
For CITET, becoming socially responsible means integrating social, environmental, and good governance issues into its strategy and activities as part of a progressive, sustainable, and balanced approach.
CITET's CSR policy is based on general principles of social responsibility, in particular those of the Global Compact relating to human rights, labor rights, the environment, and the fight against corruption.
CITET’s CSR Policy is based on the following strategic axes:
Axis 1: Develop the duty of vigilance and prevention of complicity to ensure full respect for human rights, especially within its sphere of influence;
Axis 2: Promote good governance and fight against corruption at all levels;
Axis 3: Foster constructive social dialogue for the collective interest;
Axis 4: Strengthen capacity building for the development and fulfillment of human resources;
Axis 5: Be exemplary in environmental management of the site and in leading innovative projects.
The success of the CSR approach at CITET relies on the involvement of everyone and the willingness of all staff to fully adhere to these principles.
